In 1948, MTE (Mechanical Tool and Engineering) was a Rockford, IL-based manufacturer of tools, dies, and metal stampings. In the mid 1950s, the product line was expanded to include the newly-designed Rapid-Air pneumatic feed. The success of the Rapid-Air pneumatic feed led to the creation of the RapidAir subsidiary of MTE.
